I have
designed and built many bird houses. This is the most elaborate
one"
I have made. It is a takeoff of a Victorian house. I designed
it based on an
earlier, somewhat plain-Jane bird house of mine combined with
one I saw
in a magazine. This is a simple project, but it will require
a little "fitting."

Instructions
Step 1
Cut all parts to overall size. It is a good idea to cut the
front and back, parts number 1, to shape while the parts are
either tacked or taped together, to insure an exact pair.
(Only the front will have the 1 1/4-inch- diameter
hole).
Step 2
Assemble the front, back, two sides, bottom, roof, and perch,
parts number 1,2,3,4, and 5. Note: If you
glue it together, use waterproof glue.
Step 3
Carefully add the trim as shown in the drawings. Add them
in the order they are listed, that is, 6th first, 7th second,
8th third, etc. Glue and use small headless rads for the trim.
Test if your wood tends to split. If so, predrill for the
nails.
Step 4
Prime and paint using an exterior paint. Here comes the fun part; paint the trim boards as you wish. I painted mine forest
green but you could match your house color. Now wait
for spring; I'm sure you'll soon have it full of happy birds.
(Especially if they appreciate "Victorian" ar- chitecture.)
