While visiting a crafts shop during a recent summer, I saw a simple
candle
holder similar to this one. I found it very interesting. If you
have a band saw it is very easy to make, although it can be made
with a handsaw. It could be said this light has six candle power.

Instructions
Step 1
Select a board with a pleasing grain pattern, preferably hardwood
and cut part number 1 to 3/4 inches by 2 7/8 inches by 8 1/2 inches
long.
Step 2
Sand all over with coarse sandpaper down to a fine grit. Apply a
coat of stain and one light top-coat. Lightly sand.
Step 3
Locate and drill a 1/4-inch-diameter hole through, at the right
end as shown.
Step 4
Carefully locate and drill the six 1/2-inch-diameter holes 9/16
of an inch deep, as shown. Lightly resand.
Step 5
Being precise and using a small square, draw the cuts on the side
of the wood.
Step 6
With great care, make the cuts as shown. Sand all fresh cuts and
stain all surfaces again.
Step 7
Apply two to three more top-coats of a high-gloss finish.
Step 8
Temporarily add the I/4-inch-diameter dowel, part number 2, with
a 1/2-inch-diameter ball, part number 3, on top.
Step 9
Fan out the fingers to check that the pieces clear each other. Trim
lightly, as necessary.
Step 10
Attach the dowel again, part number 2, and ball, part number 3.
Glue to the bottom board only. Add candles and open out the fingers
in a fan-like position. Now all you need is a power failure to try
out your candle holder.
