My
girlfriend has lots of plants but limited space to display them.
I built this folding plant stand to give her room to pack more plants
into a small area. It raises some plants above others and is a nice
furniture piece.
Instructions
Step 1
Study the plans carefully before starting, so that you know how
the legs fold together. Note the notch in the support, part number
3, to
lock the legs in an open position.
Step 2
Cut the top pieces, parts number I and 2, to rough size. I suggest
that you cut the pieces a little long.
Step 3
Cut the two supports, parts number 3, to size, and make the
notch following detail "A." Drill a 1/16-inch-diameter
location hole in the
opposite end for the screw, part number 8.
Step 4
Glue and tack the top pieces, parts number 1and 2, to the two
supports, parts number 3. Leave a 1/4-inch space between parts.
Be sure
they are 2 3/4 inches apart and parallel, as shown.
Step
5
Locate the exact center of the top assembly and swing a 4 9/16-
inch radius all of the way around. Sand down to the line so you
have an
exactly round top with all of the pieces in place.
Step 6
Carefully locate and drill a 1/16-inch-diameter hole for the screw,
part number 8, at the crossover midpoint of the leg.
Step
7
Assemble all of the parts, and check that everyting functions correclty.
Check that the legs lock in an open positoin.
Step
8
Finish to suit with either paint or stain.
