Weather
vanes are as popular today as they were 100 years ago. Both of these
patterns are taken directly from original weather vanes. You can
distress these if you like them to look old. Weather vanes have
been used for centuries. The rooster is an old symbol used to identify
places of worship of the early church, since Peter made his three
denials before the cock crowed. The arrow points into the wind and
stays aligned as the wind changes. The cock weather vane on church
steeples signified how easily faith could be swayed.

Instructions
Step 1
Lay out either or both patterns on a 1/2-inch grid.
Step
2
Transfer the pattern(s) to the wood and cut out.
Step
3
Paint to suit. I prefer sanding the edges slightlyl and
staining over the paint to get an old look.

These weather vanes make great wall hangings
